Updated: Sep 26, 2023

We may be from the north, and we may live outside of the metropolis, but we both LOVE visiting London. There is something about the city that feels magical, whether you visit with the summer sun warming your shoulders, or dodging between doorways in a wintery shower. London is special, a place full of romance and potential. And of course, London is packed with so many vegan food options for you to explore.

Whether you're visiting the iconic sights of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, dropping by the city for a gig, travelling to the capital on business, or spending the day in once of the luscious parks, there is sure to be plenty of tasty delights nearby.

Eating Vegan in London

"In London everyone is different, and that means anyone can fit in" - Paddington Bear

Let us get one thing straight: London is INCREDIBLE for vegan food.

When you visit London, you know you're going to have loads of choice, whatever your diet. You have this idea of all the amazing plant-based food you're going to eat, with a backdrop of some of the most famous sights in the world. But how do you make sure that you are eating the very best food, that you don't end up getting lost among the thousands of different options out there?

Because there is so much choice in London, we're doing this 'top places to eat vegan' post a little differently. Instead of ranking eateries (we don't have the time or the money to try all of them!) we will rank by category. Whether you want to try some of the UK's most famous dishes, or just refuel with a tasty takeaway at the end of the day, we've got you covered!

Best for a Sunday Roast: LD's Kitchen at The Black Heart

3 Greenland Pl, London NW1 0AP

The roast dinner we tried at The Black Heart absolutely blew our minds. It was the only vegan roast dinner we could find in London that included both a mock meat and a Yorkshire pudding. Add to that incredible potatoes and vegetables, so many different and innovative flavours, and a thick and hearty Guinness gravy and you've won us over!

Best for 'fish' and chips: Sutton and Sons

90 Stoke Newington High St, London, N16 7NY

356 Essex Rd, London, N1 3PD

218 Graham Rd, London, E8 1BP

With three outlets across London, you're sure to find a Sutton and Sons nearby wherever you're visiting. This amazing chip shop has a full vegan menu alongside their regular menu, with similar prices and incredible likeness. It's so good that we've done a full Plant Based vs. Original post!

Best for ice cream: Dáppa

Ely's Yard, 91 Brick Ln, London,E1 6QL

If there's one iconic British summer dessert, it has to be the soft-serve ice cream. Whippy, 99, whatever you call it, when you hear the ice cream van's jingle, all you want is soft serve.

Now that Dáppa are on hand with their cashew and almond-based soft serve, even vegans don't have to miss out on this delicious British summer treat. It's so good that we've done a full Featured Eat post on it!

Best for takeaway pizza: Firezza

19 locations across London

Firezza offer a huge variety of pizzas by the metre to eat in and take away, with a vast selection of vegan options including vegan chorizo! Though they have some eat-in restaurants, we've only ever had Firezza by delivery - having had their pizza delivered to locations across London, I can happily say that it is always fresh and delicious, with some of the best plant-based pizza cheese I've ever sampled!

Best for variety: Boxpark Shoreditch

2-10 Bethnal Green Rd, London, E1 6GY

With plenty of plant-based eateries (Mercy Burger and Humbledough among our favourites) and lots of other vendors with vegan options, everyone has something tasty to eat at Boxpark. The atmosphere in this shipping-container megapark is amazing too, with music and a bar by night to keep you entertained as you sample some of London's tastiest offerings.

Best for a sweet treat: Doughnut Time

7 locations across London

Scattered across London, Doughnut Time's mint green coloured stores serve a variety of inventive and delicious doughnuts with hilarious names and colourful toppings. Their soft and fluffy dough is the best we've found in the city, so much so that we go back every time we visit London. While a few of their doughnuts aren't vegan, they are all vegetarian and clearly labelled.

Best for Mexican food: Club Mexicana

Kingly Court, London, W1B 5PW

Just off the famous Carnaby Street, Club Mexicana is nestled into Kingly Court, a vibrant area for food lovers. The bright pink Club Mexicana is sure to delight those in the mood for plant-based Mexican fare: as well as tacos, burritos and nachos, Club Mexicana offer a comprehensive range of Mexican Drinks - and everything is vegan!

Every visit to London is different and you're sure to find a new favourite every time you go! I can't imagine how people who live in the city can make a decision about where to go for dinner - I am always amazed by all the pop ups, market stalls, new and established restaurants that cater mostly or entirely to a plant-based diet. It makes me want to go down to London more and more to see what my tastebuds can indulge themselves in today!

If you'd prefer the comforts of a hotel, London House Hotel has a rare 10/10 rating across the board, with its convenient location, cleanliness, friendliness, security and value for money all really impressing the people who have stayed there.
